What Happens at Ascension Leadership Academy: A Look at Levels 1, 2, and 3

One of the most common things people say about Ascension Leadership Academy is that they had no idea what they were walking into, and that this turned out to be exactly right.

The program is intentionally designed so that participants come in without a detailed script of what to expect. This is not secrecy for its own sake. It is because the value of the work depends on encountering it directly, without the filter of preconception. When you know exactly what is coming, you plan for it. When you don’t, you actually experience it.

What we can tell you is what each level is designed to accomplish, and what graduates consistently say happens when they go through it.

Level 1: Discovery

Level 1 is a three-day in-person weekend. Its purpose is exactly what the name suggests: discovery.

Most people move through their lives with a set of beliefs about themselves and the world that they have never examined directly. These beliefs, about their worth, their capabilities, what is possible for them, what they deserve, were formed early, often in response to experiences that no longer reflect their current reality. And yet they continue to shape every decision, every relationship, every result.

Level 1 creates the conditions for participants to see these patterns clearly, many for the first time. Not through lecture or analysis, but through carefully designed experiential exercises that make the invisible visible.

Graduates consistently describe Level 1 as both confronting and profoundly liberating. The confrontation comes from seeing what has actually been running the show. The liberation comes from realizing that none of it is fixed.

Level 2: Breakthrough

Level 2 is a four-day in-person weekend. If Level 1 is about seeing, Level 2 is about moving.

Awareness alone does not produce change. What produces change is taking the awareness built in Level 1 and moving it through action, in community, with support, in conditions that require something new from you. Level 2 is designed to be the most intensive part of the ALA experience, and graduates describe it as such.

Words that appear repeatedly across graduate reviews of Level 2: freedom, healing, accountability, teamwork, breaking through. These are not metaphors. They describe real experiences that happen over the course of those four days, experiences that produce genuine shifts in how people relate to themselves and to others.

Many graduates describe Level 2 as one of the most significant experiences of their lives. Several describe it as the weekend they would most like to go back and repeat.

Level 3: Leadership Integration

Level 3 is where the work meets real life.

The program runs for 75 days across 10 weeks and includes three in-person weekends along with daily coaching support. Unlike the first two levels, which take place in a dedicated training environment, Level 3 is designed to be practiced in the actual conditions of your life, your relationships, your business, your community.

This is the distinguishing feature of the ALA model. Most personal development experiences happen in a bubble. You go somewhere, you have a powerful experience, you come home, and within weeks the old patterns reassert themselves because nothing in your daily environment has changed. Level 3 addresses this directly by providing structured support as participants practice new ways of being in exactly the contexts where the old patterns live.

Level 3 also includes a community service project. Each cohort selects a local nonprofit, raises funds, and delivers a meaningful contribution to their community. To date, ALA cohorts have collectively raised over $4 million for nonprofits serving homeless youth, children in need, and underserved communities across the country.

What Graduates Say Overall

Across more than 114 verified five-star reviews, three things appear consistently regardless of a graduate’s age, background, or reason for joining.

First, that the program delivered more than they expected. Second, that the results have lasted well beyond the program itself, with graduates writing reviews one and two years later describing still using the tools daily. Third, that the community formed during the program has become one of the most meaningful relationships in their lives.

The ALA program is not for everyone. It requires genuine willingness to examine yourself honestly and to be changed by what you find. For the people who are ready, it consistently delivers transformation that no book, seminar, or weekend retreat has been able to replicate.
